Have you ever sensed that all is not right in the world? In your life? Have you longed for more? Thought there must be a greater purpose? That longing and awareness are part of God's design. God created you and designed you to yearn to know Him and be in relationship with Him.  He designed and desires this relationship to be one built upon love.  The challenge with that is love requires choice. Love is a decision both make to set their affections towards the other above all else. Every person's response to God since the first two people God created has been to rebel against God's boundaries and reject the relationship God offered...the Bible calls this rejection of God's love and will sin.  This sin causes separation, death in your relationship with God.

Romans 6:23 says it this way, "the wages of sin is death"...

BUT...

God demonstrated His incredible love for you when He sent Jesus to come to earth to live among us and then die in your place to pay the debt your sin accumulated.  So the bad news is everyone has sinned and rebelled against God's boundaries and rejected God's love at some point.  This makes all of us sinners, separated from God and spiritually dead.  Yet God offers a free gift to you...Jesus came to die in your place to pay the price of sin and free you from that debt you owed.  God is love and loves you so much He sent Jesus to die for you even when you rejected Him.  Yet God is also holy and just and must judge sin.  We would not think a judge to be a good and righteous judge if they let sin go unpunished.  God in Jesus God demonstrates both love and justice, grace and holiness, wrath and mercy.

Romans 6:23 says it this way, "the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.'

It seems too good to be true.  Other religions and philosophies tell you to just keep trying to be good enough, try to fix the damage yourself; but the Bible says that God reached down to you instead of making you try in vain to reach high enough to reach Him.  This is a "free gift" one that is offered because God is gracious and merciful.  This gift is received simply by placing your faith in who Jesus is and what He did for you.  You must believe that Jesus came down to earth to live a perfect life, die in your place, and conquer death so that He could offer you an eternal, life giving relationship with God.
